A Pilgrim Prayer and Poem Entitled "Little Pilgrim"

Oh Lord let the weight of reality,
And the weight of prophecy reside in me,
Let it be all that I live for,
And all that I see.
Through the power of the Holy Spirit,
Guide me in judgment and agape,
Enabling me with prophetic wisdom and knowledge,
Teaching me at all times what to say.
Humble me with Your grace,
And as I humble myself give me grace.
Spirit of Truth reign in me,
Set me apart in purity for God’s glory.
Show me what to give and show me when to yield,
Only Your kingdom Lord Jesus I live to build.
For all other kings and kingdoms will fall to their utter end,
But those who daily look to You shall arise victorious over their enemies when You come again.
I hear the Holy Spirit whispering be ready,
Lay it all down and prepare,
Take up your cross and follow Jesus,
For the time is near.
Oh Lord at the end of my life when we look back what will we see?
Is it a lamp full oil which has burned after Thee?
What in eternity have I lost in bringing to You,
By not doing what You have asked me to do?
From giving in to the fools who have lost their way,
And listening too long to the words they say,
“You’re too serious, relax and calm down,
We’re all saved and we shine in this town.
Enjoy life, eat, drink and be merry,
All is well, there is peace, surely the Lord will tarry.”
Now the days are here,
And Your signs have led me thus far,
Your Holy Word, the Flame of Truth,
Is branding Your return upon my heart.
Judgment is coming along with showers of mercy,
Rivers of justice and unfailing love for those who are thirsty.
But for those who are too busy,
Too occupied with this world’s system to enter the ark,
Know that the Light of the world is coming,
And you’ll be left in the dark.
Even then you will think that all is well,
Until you die and wake up in a burning hell,
With no one who cares to hear you yell.

But for those whose eyes are fixed toward the eastern sky,
You have the Blessed Hope and through the Holy Spirit have received the power of an endless life.
The hour has come and His power is in you,
So continue to do all that Jesus began both to teach and to do.
Visions of love, intense like the rapids of rivers,
And aching, a cleansing, a passion upon my soul they deliver.
Anticipating my Lord’s return,
My first Love is burning hot,
So I am preparing my garments and making ready,
By obeying all, that He, wants.
Committed to forsake vanity and slothfulness, gluttony and other sin,
Until I finally die to self, ending the battle with Love’s triumphant win! Amen

Little pilgrim you were born between two worlds,
Upon the ancient and Holy Highway.
Many times you may feel torn between them,
But upon this Path, you must stay.

The world on the right is obviously dark,
But the one on the left has an appearance of light.
Remove your foot from both of them,
Walk this narrow way, for it is right.

Little pilgrim, I know you are so lonely,
But it is because of Truth.
For this your eyes are opened,
So that many do not get close to you.

You live life as an outcast,
And oft times are rejected.
Because these two worlds you have abandoned,
Ran from and defected.

Suffering shall be your way of life,
So long as you are on the Path.
But for eternity you will reap My mercy,
Being hidden in the Day of My wrath.

Little pilgrim, born into a whirlwind,
Because both worlds are lawless,
You’ve suffered much confusion.

These worlds are a perpetual crossroads,
So you often question if you are lost.
However My truth shall counsel you,
Saying, “The old Path,” is the cross.

Until you come out from these worlds,
You will never be content.
Leaving the ways of folly,
And from those who circumvent.

Little pilgrim, others will be refreshed,
When they meet you in the Way.
Their weary souls have been so burdened,
From many who have strayed.

Though many have walked this Path alone,
They know this Path only, will lead them home.

Confusion, rejection, and loneliness, you may say,
Are the feelings which are to comfort you while walking the Lord’s Highway!

But be courageous and do not despair,
Unless it is man, you begin to fear.

For whom you fear you serve,
And one Day they will learn,
That they should have loved the truth,
But now surely they will burn.

Little pilgrim, embrace the truth which bore you,
And you will not err along the way.
Since the Highway is called holiness,
Permit the truth in your heart to reign.

Do not be fooled from what you felt,
When you left those worlds behind,
For these the worlds pine away in sin,
But the old Highway shall be your Sign.

For many exalt their senses over veracity,
Thus they are constrained to lewdness,
But Truth restrains for chastity.
Little pilgrim, how happy are those who suffer from those worlds, oppression,
They are in touch with reality, not forgetful of God’s eternal judgment.

These are true saints, in whom His soul takes pleasure,
They love what He loves and hate what He hates,
And make the Lord, their greatest treasure!

“Reason dictates that persons who are truly noble and who love wisdom will honor and love only what is true. They will refuse to follow traditional viewpoints if those viewpoints are worthless...Instead, a person who genuinely loves truth must choose to do and speak what is true, even if he is threatened with death...I have not come to flatter you by this written petition, nor to impress you by my words. I have come to simply beg that you do not pass judgment until you have made an accurate and thorough investigation. Your investigation must be free of prejudice, hearsay, and any desire to please the superstitious crowds. As for us, we are convinced that you can inflict no lasting evil on us. We can only do it to ourselves by proving to be wicked people. You can kill us—but you cannot harm us.” From Justin Martyr's first apology 150 A.D. Martyred A.D. 160
